Write-up: Information has been received from a physician concerning a male with a history of developmental delay, penumonia, bronchitis and suspected respiratory syncytial virus infection who in 1998 was prophylactically vaccinated with MMR II. In 2000 the pt was diagnosed with autism. The physician reported that the pt also has a sibling, who was not seen by this particular office, who has autism. The reporting physician felt that autism was related to therapy with MMR II. Upon internal review autism was considered an other important medical event (OMIC). Additional info has been requested. Follow up on 12/12/03: "Additional info has been received from the physician. The child had been seeing another pediatrician. The child was first seen by the reporting physician at 4 months of age, at this visit the child was seen for wheezing. The child did not come to the practice on a regular basis for well visits and was mostly seen only when ill. The physician reported that this caused the child to get behind in his immunizations. The child did not have any significat past medical history for any allergies, but he did have a history of pneumonia, bronchitis and a questionable RSV at 4 months of age. At nine months of age the mother expressed a concern that the child was not talking, and as a result was not behaving properly, she began to have "problems" with the child. At 9 months of age the child was seen by another physician who is a child developmental specialist at another hospital. On 07/08/1998 the child was way behind on his immunizations and so she immunized the child with DPT, HIB. The MD told the mother to follow up in 2 weeks, so on the follow up visit of 08/24/1998 the child was well and was vaccinated with his 1st dose of MMR (Lot # 0231H/626053), and his first varicella virus vaccine live from (Lot # 0652H/626690). The mother reported that it was from these immunizations, and the mercury that caused her son to go into a shell and regress. The physician reported that at 2 years of age it is documented in the childs chart that the child only spoke 15 single words, and that he was developmentally delayed. On 02/08/2000 the child was seen by a neurologist who reported that the child should be evaluated further, but the mother has since left the practive and reported that for financial reasons and her health insurance not covering her bills that she could not longer take her son to see that physician. The reporting physician stated that the child was last seen in her practive on 11/11/1999 for an ill visit of gastroenteritis on this visit it was documented in the childs chart that the child was now 3 years old, had poor social skills, and was still wearing diapers and was not potty trained. The mother reported to the physician the the child is now being seen by her family MD for "alternative tx" and reports that the child had mercury levels done and they have resulted to be "mercury toxic". The physican reported that the patient also has a sibling, who has autism. The mother blames the mercury in vaccines on this child''s autism also. The reporting physician did not have any further information on the sibling as she reported that she has never seen this child. The reporting physician felt that autism was related to therapy w/MMR and varicella virus vaccine live. Upon internal review autism was considered an other important medical event (OMIC). The physician reported that the pt also has a sibling, an older sister who is autistic. The mother blames the mercury in vaccines on this child''s autism also. (WAES # 0312USA00586). Additional information is expected."

All vaccines make him ill: fever, loose bowels, vomiting, lethargy, apathy, seizures, neuro deficit, allergies to foods, weird viruses ie. herpangina-after varicella shot. Worst reaction was at age 2- almost died-regression, seizures, aggression, insomnia, lost ability to speak, stopped walking. Diagnosis was autism and mental retardation. He was healthy and normal at birth-was a premie but only needed one week hospital stay following birth. The shots have caused neurological, immunological, digestive and developmental problems-he will never recover and there is no cure. The medical record received on 3/23/04 states autism, mental retardation, behavior problems, ADHD, sleep problems and self injury.

CDC Split Type: WAES0401USA00047

Write-up: Information has been received from a consumer concerning her 7 year old son with no pertinent medical history who in early June 2003, was vaccinated SC with a 0.5mL dose of varicella virus vaccine live. There was no concomitant medication. Beginning sometime in July or August, the child began to develop lesions on his stomach, cheek, mouth, and around his eyes. The mother reported that these lesions were herpes zoster or shingles. The zosterlesions were also noted to be in the eyes, face, and mouth. The pt also developed heart palpitations, disorientation, difficulty swallowing, and neck twitching. In addition, the child complained of throat pain and being unable to swallow. He also developed "severe ticks" where he would complain that his "heart hurt" and his eyes would roll. The pt recovered only to have the symptoms appear again "more severe" in September. The pt was treated with various antibiotics and topical medications and had visited the ER on several occasions. "Extensive bloodwork" was obtained. Unspecified medical attention was sought. There was no product quality complaint. The outcome was reported as both not recovered and recovered with sequelae. Heart palpitations, herpes zoster, disorientation, difficulty swallowing and neck twitching were considered to be disabling. Additional info has been requested.
