Write-up: Patient presented to ED on on 9/11/21 after experiencing 3 days of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and confusion. Patient denied any respiratory symptoms and was not found to be hypoxic. A CT abdomen/pelvis showed inflammatory changes suggesting portal colopathy/rectal varices vs proctitis, signs of cirrhosis, and a hypodense lesion in the spleen. A COVID test was done in the ED on 9/11/21, and it came back positive. Patient is fully vaccinated for COVID (s/p 3 doses of Pfizer vaccine on 2/3/21, 2/24/21, and 8/17/21). Patient was admitted for further work-up and remdesivir was started because her MD believed the diarrhea was mainly due to COVID. Lovenox was also started as VTE prophylaxis. Patient is currently on day 2 of hospitalization and is still saturating well on room air.
